BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

 

KIC Business Administration Department seeks to realize the tremendous potential of a knowledge-based future in the U.A.E. It is therefore of the utmost importance that KIC Business Administration Department offers the highest quality academic programs; programs that are recognized both within UAE and internationally.

 

The department programs comprise of 4 degree programs; a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), a Bachelor of Islamic Banking & Finance (BIBF), Associate of Science in Business Administration (ADBA), and Associate of Science in Islamic Banking (ADIB).

 

The department has set in its mission that, the students who successfully complete the programs are equipped with applied industrial training, which enables them to join the local industry without the need for a lengthy further training. The program’s graduates also have the option to pursue postgraduate education at senior higher education institutions within the UAE and abroad. The KIC Business Administration Department graduates will join hands with graduates of other higher education institutions in the UAE to form the knowledge-based economy, conforming to the aspiration of the UAE government vision.

 

All academic programs offered by KIC Business Administration Department are accredited by the Commission of Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education. The program learning outcomes of the Bachelor of Business Administration and the Bachelor of Islamic Banking & Finance are aligned to level 7 of the UAE Qualification framework, where the Associates of Business Administration and Islamic Banking & Finance are aligned to level 5 of the UAE Qualification framework.

The Bachelor and Associate Degree in Business Administration:

 

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) builds on the successful Associate Degree in Business Administration degree program currently delivered by KIC Business Administration Department. Students completing the Associate degree with a suitable GPA score will be able to transfer to the Bachelor degree program but they will need to complete additional bridging courses.

 

  • Provide students with a broad knowledge of modern business theories and practical skills relevant to the needs of the employment market through a carefully structured curriculum consisting of courses in accounting, management, marketing and human resource where students will have the flexibility to specialize in one of these concentrations. The program has a core capstone course which integrates Knowledge of the main business functions.
  • Involve the students in an intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning through the study of business administration, and develop a range of intellectual and transferable skills that will have value in business organizations. As part of the program, students will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills relevant to their concentrations through an internship course involving real life work experience.
  • Produce graduates who have undertaken a rigorous study of general management and practical skills that are essential within the business environment. Upon successful completion of the program graduates will have obtained the ability to assume responsibility for an entry-level managerial position in an organization or continue their studies in the subject at a higher degree level.

 

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program is comprised of 8 semesters of full time study with a total of 123 required credit hours. The student is required to complete 40 courses which consist of a combination of General Education, Core Business and Program major elective courses. To qualify for the Bachelor of Business Administration, the minimum grade for graduation is a cumulative 2.0 GPA. The minimum duration for completion is four years (8 regular semester), with a maximum of seven years (14 regular semesters).

Students who complete the program with a GPA of less than 2.0 are allowed to repeat courses in order to improve their GPA. If necessary – under recommendation of the head of the department, students experiencing difficulty attaining the GPA prior to completion may be placed on academic probation for the next semester or be required to repeat particular courses in order to improve letter grades and ensure competence in the course learning outcomes.

 

   

 

The Bachelor of Islamic Banking & Finance (BIBF) program builds on the successful Associate Degree in Islamic Banking program currently delivered by KIC Business Administration Department. Students completing the Associate degree with a suitable GPA score will be able to transfer to the Bachelor of Islamic Banking & Finance (BIBF) program but they will need to complete additional bridging courses.

 

Program goals (BIBF)

 

  • Produce competent graduates with the knowledge of Shari’ah, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Legal Shari’ah and Social Issues.
  • Equip students with the theory concepts and skills to continue their studies for postgraduate degree in Islamic Banking & Finance or any other Business major at higher education institutions.
  • Provide articulation pathway for graduates of the Associate in Islamic Banking & Finance to pursue higher studies towards the Bachelor of Islamic Banking & Finance (BIBF) program provided they complete additional bridging courses.

 

Program Completion Requirements  (BIBF)

 

The Bachelor of Islamic Banking & Finance (BIBF) program is comprised of 8 semesters of full time study with a total of 126 required credit hours. The student is required to complete 41 courses which consist of a combination of General Education, Core supporting Business and Islamic Banking Major courses. To qualify for the Bachelor of Islamic Banking & Finance (BIBF), the minimum grade for graduation is a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

The minimum duration for completion is four years (8 regular semester), with a maximum of seven years (14 regular semesters). Students who complete the program with a GPA of less than 2.0 are allowed to repeat courses in order to improve their GPA.
